Concerns and Complaints
At Allen Edwards Primary School, we aim to work in partnership with parents and carers. We welcome feedback and want to resolve concerns promptly, fairly and informally wherever possible.
Raising a Concern
In most situations, a concern can be resolved by speaking with a member of staff.
In the first instance, please contact your child’s class teacher and request an appointment at a mutually convenient time. Teachers may be unable to discuss concerns at the beginning or end of the school day, particularly when other parents, carers or children are present.
Please note that staff can only discuss a pupil with someone who has parental responsibility or another person who has been formally authorised to act on their behalf.
If the class teacher is unable to resolve the matter, please contact the school office to arrange a meeting with an appropriate senior member of staff.
If your concern remains unresolved, you may request an appointment with:
-
Louise Robertson, Headteacher
-
Nicola Harris, Deputy Headteacher
-
Claire Harvey, Assistant Headteacher
-
Phillip Slatter, Assistant Headteacher
-
Appointments can be arranged through the school office.

Making a formal complaint
If your concern cannot be resolved informally, you may submit a formal complaint in accordance with the school’s Complaints Policy, which can be found in the policies section of this website.
Please complete the school’s Concern and Complaint Form and return it to the school office by hand or email.
The school will acknowledge, investigate and respond to formal complaints within the timescales set out in its Complaints Policy.
If your complaint concerns the Headteacher, it should be addressed to the Chair of Governors and submitted through the school office. Please mark the correspondence as private and confidential.
Safeguarding or Child Protection Concerns
Safeguarding concerns should be reported immediately and should not wait for the school’s general complaints procedure.
Allen Edwards Primary School’s safeguarding team is:
-
Nicola Harris – Designated Safeguarding Lead
-
Louise Robertson – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
-
Madeleine Merrifield – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
-
Phillip Slatter – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
-
Telephone: 020 7622 3985
Email: office@allenedwards.lambeth.sch.uk

Urgent safeguarding concerns outside school hours can be reported to Lambeth Council on 020 7926 5555.
Concerns About a Member of Staff
Concerns or allegations about a member of staff, volunteer, contractor or supply teacher should be reported directly to the Headteacher.
Concerns about the Headteacher should be reported to the Chair of Governors through the school office.
Please do not investigate the matter yourself or discuss it widely, as this could affect the school’s ability to follow the correct safeguarding procedures.
Community Use of the School Premises
Concerns relating to the use of the school’s premises outside normal school hours should be submitted to the school office for the attention of Louise Robertson, Nicola Harris and John Elston, Premises Manager.
