"The school is an inclusive and welcoming environment where pupils are well supported to strengthen their learning and well-being." Ofsted 2018

Support / Financial Information

All children at Allen Edwards deserve the best start. Through the use of Pupil Premium, SEND funding and the PE and Sport premium we ensure that we provide the right opportunities to each and every child.

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is funding that is allocated to schools for pupils to support disadvantaged pupils. Allen Edwards Primary School receives funding for looked after children (LAC) and for every pupil who has received free school meals over the past 6 years.

Schools are able to use this funding as they see fit but are required to report on how the money was spent.

The Pupil Premium Strategy of the school looks at the following areas:

  • School provision should meet the needs of all learners

  • A range of factors can be used to categorise pupils as being socially disadvantaged, including those that are eligible for free school meals (FSM) and some looked after children (LAC)

  • Pupils eligible for free school meals sometimes can have other factors that can be a barrier to learning (e.g. special educational needs)

  • The school will strive to ensure that vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils have their needs quickly identified in order to overcome any barriers identified

  • A high priority focus for spending of the Pupil Premium Grant will relate to securing the best rates of progress for vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils

Pupil Premium Expenditure & Recovery Funding 2023/2024

Recovery Funding

In June 2020 the government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up on missed learning caused by coronavirus (COVID19). This is especially important for the most vulnerable pupils and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who we know have been most affected.

Please view the the Pupil Premium Expenditure and Recovery Funding document above to see how we are using this for our pupils.

The SEND Code of Practice says schools must:

…use their best endeavours to make sure that a child with SEN gets the support they need – this means doing everything they can to meet children and young people’s SEN”. (6.2)

At Allen Edwards, we ensure that all our SEND learners receive the appropriate support to help them with their learning and progress.

PE and Sport Premium

Physical education plays a crucial role in the education of the whole child. It contributes directly to development of physical ability and health and fitness, and helps children learn to make informed choices and understand the value of leading a physically active lifestyle. Physical education is unique to the school curriculum as the only programme that provides students with opportunities to learn fundamental movement skills, develop fitness, gain an understanding about physical activity and promote social, cooperative and problem-solving abilities in children. Through physical education pupils learn about the benefits of being physically active as well as the skills and knowledge to incorporate safe, satisfying physical activity within their lifestyle.
