Pupil Premium

'Children receiving Pupil Premium made significant + progress in Writing and made significant + progress - in the top 10% - in Maths at Allen Edwards Primary School.'

Pupil Premium is the term used to describe funding to the school which is based on the number of pupils on roll who have been registered for free school meals over the last 6 years or children who have been in care for more than 6 months - Looked After Children (LAC).

It has been for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility. The focus of the funding is to close the gap in achievement between those eligible for Pupil Premium funding and those who are not.

The range of provision we consider to close the achievement gap may include:

  • Providing small group work with an experienced teacher focused on overcoming gaps in learning
  • 1 to 1 support
  • Additional teaching and learning opportunities provided through learning mentors, trained Teaching Assistants or external agencies
  • Providing enrichment opportunities to improve engagement such as specialist sport and music tuition
  • Family support

The tables below show the comparison in attainment and progress of all pupils and those pupils eligible for pupil premium funding at the end of each Key Stage at Allen Edwards.
